Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies

The University of Chicago Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) advances knowledge and public understanding of Latin America, the Caribbean, and their global diaspora by sponsoring innovative research, interdisciplinary degree programs, and public events focused on the region. Each year, Center hosts distinguished visiting scholars from Latin America, supports graduate student research in Latin America and the Caribbean, and sponsors an active series of events related to the region. The Center also oversees the major, minor, and graduate certificate in Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
